This may seem like basic knowledge, but here are two tips for accurately ordering spare parts. First, have a list of all serial numbers used on your crane. There should be one on the hoist, one on the overhead crane bridge, and perhaps one on the endtrucks. There is also very likely data plates on each motor, brake, and gearbox. Manufacturers often keep detailed records, so recording these serial numbers and data plates is very important. Typically either the bridge crane or electric hoist serial number governs the records, but this is not always the case.
Also keep in mind that overhead cranes are often custom-built to special order, so it is impossible to carry stock for everything at a manufacturer or distributor. If you rely on your overhead crane hourly to make lifts (such as unloading and loading trucks and railcars) you should keep at a minimum a hoist brake, wire rope, collector shoes, and spare transmiter for the radio control. Consult your manufacturer for a suggested list of parts or contact us to request help with your overhead crane.
